A Few Things We Recommend You Do Before Moving

Hills Moving Oshawa Review

You have gone through your moving checklist and you still feel like there is something that you have left out – don’t worry, there often is. That is why we have taken the time to come up with a list of things that people who are moving often forget. At Hill Moving we are experts in helping families relocate to new homes and we have a lot of experience with all the details that go into a move. Make sure that you have forgotten to do the following:

•    Make sure that you change the locks on all external doors. Lots of people have been in and out of your new home – the previous owner, realtors, prospective buyers, repairmen and possibly more. You don’t want to take any chances with break-ins.

•    True, the last owner of the home may have cleaned the home after they left but you want to give it a once over before you move in. Get cleaning supplies, turn on the corner and clean every inch. If the walls aren’t painted you can take this time to give them a fresh coat. It is a great idea to clean your house before the move because there is no furniture to get in the way.

•    Outfit your closets and cabinets for better storage. Older homes tend to have old cabinets and closets and these don’t make for efficient storage. You can get a carpenter in before the move to create more optimal storage spaces.

•    You need to get all electrical equipment maintained before you move in. Have a serviceman come in and look at heating and cooling as well as the boiler and any other equipment that may be present.

•    Make sure that you deck out your windows before you move in. It feels nicer to have new drapes in a new home so measure all windows, choose a fabric and have your curtains custom made. If you cannot afford custom made blinds there are plenty of ready-made options available.

•    Plan to throw a housewarming party at least 2 or 3 weeks after you move in. There is no better way to get motivated to unpack those boxes than the anticipation of guests. Send the invites out as soon as you move in so that you can start work right away.

•    Have an energy audit done – there could be old equipment that is sucking up too much power. You may find that an audit saves you up to 30% savings on utility bills.

•    Safety is paramount in your new home, and you should go over it to make sure that you install new smoke detectors and get new fire extinguishers. Make sure that there are no points of weakness where intruders can come through, and make sure that the power alarm is functional. Check to see the response time for the security company.

If you have done all these things it is time to call Hills Moving. We are one of the most efficient moving companies in Ontario. You can find out more on our website, hillsmoving.ca/service-area/oshawa

Winter can bring so much fun and enjoyment for all members of the family. Winter snow can provide kids with a different medium to express their creativity while the relatively cold temperatures will keep couples and families a lot closer as everyone will be snuggling up close to one another. To make the most out of your winter holidays, you need to really prepare for it. Here are a few tips for booking your winter vacation.

Plan Your Winter Vacation Early
It pays to plan your winter holiday vacation early on. This way you will already have a goal in mind which you may want to achieve in several steps. It saves you time, effort, and invaluable monetary resources. For instance, booking your travel on certain days of the week may actually give you discounted rates. You might want to check travel sites with discount codes for this.

Track Prices Now
While it is still summer, you might want to start tracking the prices of travel holidays now. You can start visiting travel sites to get an idea which travel provider will give you the best deal. It is equally important to begin tracking any discounts or promotions that are on offer and check out their period of validity.

Check Availability Of Travel Packages
Before you start booking your winter vacation, make sure to check the availability of travel packages as these will often provide you with exceptional value for every penny that you spend. Plus, you get to choose which package will have the exact fit to your holiday plans.

If you already have your plans, checked the travel package appropriate for you and your family, and have a variety of discount codes with you, make sure to book early as this can save you a lot of hassle. The only thing left is for you to sit back and wait for the experience of a lifetime.

Hotel Review

“We stayed at King’s Creek for the first time in July while visiting Williamsburg. This was by far the nicest condo we have ever had, in terms of the layout and furnishings. The service was superb and we loved the swimming pool. My daughter and I used the pool every morning before heading off for the day to do some sight seeing. Very clean and spacious. We plan on staying here again next year so we can see more sights!”

Other Things Worth Mentioning:

The hotel is an hour drive from the Liberia Airport. This drive can be a little rough as the roads are the best in Costa Rica sometimes. You will run into this most places you go however.

Wi-Fi is offered though out the Hotel & Resort. Their is a daily fee you have to pay to use this service. It is around $15 at the time of this posting which is inline with most resorts. Actually on the lower end.

The hotel is kid friendly and has top notch service. You won’t be disappointed in our experience and looking at a lot of other reviews.

Check in: 3:00pm and Check out: 12:00pm (pretty standard).

This is a non smoking property. Pets are not allowed.

Some other cool amenities the hotel & resort has is a barber / beauty shop, Bourbon Program, a game room, babysitting, and even a virtual concierge (have a real one too lol). Of course their are many others, this is just a few that stand out.

Our Thoughts:

As we mentioned at the beginning, the JW Marriott Guancaste Resort should definitely make the list of hotels to consider if you are heading to Guancaste. The Resort and the beach are beautiful and the service and amenities are some of the best you’ll find in the area. It deserves the 5 star rating for sure. What really stands out is the food, it is the best in a resort that we have found in the area.

Hilton Hawaiian Village Waikiki Beach Information

Hilton Hawaiian Village – Waikiki Beach Resort Information

You can’t go wrong by choosing the Hilton Hawaiian Village on Waikiki Beach as your place to stay. It is truly one of the most stunning hotels in Hawaii. The resort, the accommodations, food and the service are all top notch.

This beautiful resort sits on 22 acres on the ocean front of Waikiki Beach. This is one of the most popular beach destinations in Hawaii so it’s definitely the place to be! The hotel has 5 different pools on the property including the Superpool which is the largest on the island. • Paradise Lounge
  • Tropics Bar & Grill *

* Recommended by our experts.

Other Things Worth Mentioning:

Of course there are numerous places at the resort for shopping as well. At least 8 different shops that we counted in the towers and around the resort.

The resort also is a beautiful place to have your wedding & reception. They have multiple venues around the property to host your special day. I must say they are breathtaking. Plus what better place to get married than Hawaii!

Awards:

The resort has one numerous awards over the years. Almost all them them are awarding them for being one of the top 10 resorts in the United States. Conde Nast, Travel & Leisure, Parents Magazine and many many more have all awarded the resort. All deserved if I may add!

Our Thoughts:

If you are traveling to Hawaii for a romantic get-a-way or even a family vacation that you can’t go wrong staying here. The resort and grounds are beautiful and the service is always great. They really go above and beyond to make your stay a memorable one. This is a major resort though so it is quite large and can be very busy. So if you are looking to be in the thick of things, have a lot of activities to do and be close to things on the island than this is a great place. However if you are wanting to be more secluded and have a quiet retreat than you may want to consider other options.
